Keys Ranch (a.k.a. Desert Queen Ranch) is part of Joshua Tree National Park in Southern California. The ranch was active in the early 1900's as a cattle ranch and mining center. It has been carefully preserved and can only be accessed with ranger-led tours.
My interest in photography dates back to the 1960s when as a graduate student at the University of Arizona I built my own darkroom and experimented with black and white images using 35 mm & 2 1/4" film formats. I am a biologist and retired (2004) college professor. Toward the end of my career, the digital revolution rekindled my interest in photography with the computer replacing the darkroom. I became interested in microphotography and made many digital images of biological specimens for teaching/research purposes. This was back when a 3 megapixel Nikon camera was state of the art!
