About David Salter

David Salter

My interest in photography dates back to the 1960s when as a graduate student at the University of Arizona I built my own darkroom and experimented with black and white images using 35 mm & 2 1/4" film formats. I am a biologist and retired (2004) college professor. Toward the end of my career, the digital revolution rekindled my interest in photography with the computer replacing the darkroom. I became interested in microphotography and made many digital images of biological specimens for teaching/research purposes. This was back when a 3 megapixel Nikon camera was state of the art! After 40 years of teaching General Biology courses & Human Physiology I hung up my lab coat and invested in some serious camera equipment. My wife and...
