A digital photograph of 100' Sahalie Falls on the McKenzie River in Oregon. To get this unusual perspective of the falls, I had to hike around to the north bank of the river and climb down a steep, treacherous, wet and mossy slope to water's edge. The next challenge was preventing the heavy mist from ruining my camera as I took my photos and climbed back up to the main trail.
My interest in photography dates back to the 1960s when as a graduate student at the University of Arizona I built my own darkroom and experimented with black and white images using 35 mm & 2 1/4" film formats. I am a biologist and retired (2004) college professor. Toward the end of my career, the digital revolution rekindled my interest in photography with the computer replacing the darkroom. I became interested in microphotography and made many digital images of biological specimens for teaching/research purposes. This was back when a 3 megapixel Nikon camera was state of the art!
